Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s Beta Feels Fast, Flashy, and a Little Too Familiar

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's new gameplay revisits some very well-trodden territory, and as they say — and as in-game chats make clear — familiarity breeds contempt.

Recently, I've been drowning myself in retro games. Going from one to the next in rapid fire, seeing which ones stick. Right now I've landed on Kirby's Adventure for the NES and Phantasy Star for the Sega Master System.

It's so nice for it to be just me and the game. No launcher or online connection required. No social media buttons, patch updates, or DLC notifications on the title screen. No achievement pop-ups or third-party game overlays tracking your activity.

No BS, just video game.

Bro, this dude's story about his 'game with the bros' experience being with his dad and 2 uncles playing #HalfLife was already sweet - but his story of getting them to play other games like #LethalCompany and even get hooked to #Minecraft with a growing number of family members is just.. amazing 😭

As an Asian kid, it's already a miracle that I get to talk about plumbing and chainsaws with my dad recently lmao. This video is genuinely a must-watch, this dude's old men are genuinely cool lol.
