You'll likely catch this image a million times in your various feeds: Earth as seen by Reid Wiseman from Artemis II en-route to the Moon.

My first thought? That's *really* noisy 🧐

But then I realised – it's the *nightside* of Earth, illuminated by the almost full Moon, not the Sun 🌕

The bright limb at lower-right is where the dayside starts, & the fact that you can see aurorae, airglow, & cities in Europe, Africa, & S & N America also gives the game away.

Cool.

these are absolutely everywhere in our neighborhood right now #Bloomscrolling

📢 Trans rights are under attack in Europe and in other places including the US and the UK, but we say it loud and clear: trans rights are human rights and deserve protection and recognition.

Good Morning! Everyone ready for the week? #funnies #jokes #dadjokes #lol

Tried photographing starlings but I only got these really dark shots of shapes high up in trees. Ugh.

But then suddenly one of them decided to perch right next to me and started talking. Such a sweetie.
But maybe felt sorry for me?

This is the strength of feeling about #Trump in America.

Any #brompton experts here?

I was folding my (P line) Brompton the other day and heard a small "ping" sound. Then I saw this small, black, anodized, Phillips-head screw on the ground - but I can't find where it fell off from!

Anyone have any ideas?

The bike still works fine, at the moment: it gets me around the streets of Pisa quickly and comfortably, easily on the train even when crowded, even up&down the 4km long, 350m high hill near my house -- a reliable companion!

I often joke that Brittany is the most left-wing region in France - and has the highest number of cafés and bars per capita... but perhaps the two aspects are more closely linked than I thought.

This article - https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/mar/27/progressive-paris-far-right-french-capital-food-culture-community-extremists - links the increasing number of car-free and non-commercial social spaces in Paris with its continuing extraordinary left voting record - and suggests that the well documented disappearance of such spaces in the US and elsewhere may be a factor in the rise of the extreme right.

Progressive Paris has many weapons to fight the far right, but the best? Spaces where you can simply hang out

Drop into any of the French capital’s ‘third places’ and you’ll find food, culture, community – and an antidote to the disaffection extremists feed on, says Paris-based writer Alexander Hurst

I read an interview with one of the very few female ship telegraphers who had worked on Danish ships when contact was still by Morse. She noted that she could almost fall in love over the ether with someone who had a beautiful Morse 'hand'.

I am so tired of hearing "It does nothing" YES IT DOES. It's not the be-all end-all but it's ONE of the things that gets more and more people involved. AND it influences elected officials. Social attitudes are a big part of what has to change.
