Other than laziness/ease-of-offloading, I think many people trust LLM output because of an unconscious narrative:
“Computers don’t make mistakes.”
Decades of computers being precise, accurate, deterministic, computational, etc. (e.g. calculators), instilled this idea of computing devices as inerrant.
But LLMs are *probabilistic* and worse—prediction confidence isn’t conveyed in the UI.
Computational beliefs + probabilistic reality = dangerous assumptions
