Trump, the deal maker, will surely charge the Saudis a hefty price for continuing the war. Instead of making them pay for it, he'll pocket the money and let American taxpayers pay for it a la Kushner. While the superrich get richer & richer, American working families get poorer and poorer. They don't even have the basic public benefits and services that citizens of all other wealthy democracies enjoy.

Saudi Leader Is Said to Push Trump to Continue Iran War in Recent Calls

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sees a “historic opportunity” to remake the region, according to people briefed by U.S. officials on the conversations.

The war on Iran, public health quagmire, spiraling government debts… Limitless incompetence and corruption.

Who knows how much Trump’s family and people in his circles are making from insider trading. They know beforehand when the oil stocks will go up or down or which defense stocks to buy when. #uspol

When Trump Wants Something Done, He Dispatches ICE to Do It

President Trump has increasingly used Immigration and Customs Enforcement to push personal and political objectives, and on Monday sent agents to airports across the country to help deal with long security lines.

I had missed this NYT article yesterday. I learned about it while reading Haaretz this morning. It’s a detailed account of how Netanyahu manipulated Trump by presenting him with an extremely optimistic scenario. I’m a big fan of one of the authors of the article: Ronen Bergman, Tel Aviv. He writes the best pieces on Israel for the NYT. He’s a great investigative journalist.

Israel Thought It Could Spur Rebellion Inside Iran. That Hasn’t Happened.

President Trump’s hopes that an Israeli plan to ignite an internal uprising against Iran’s theocratic government could bring the war to a swift end have so far been dashed.

From Haaretz:

'Protecting Civilization Against Fanatic Muslims' • Netanyahu and His Son Join Europe's Far-right at CPAC in Hungary to Rally Against Migrants and the 'Woke Virus'

Muslims have been much nicer to Jews than Christians ever were. A remarkable whitewashing of history.

I take the “Woke Virus” over “Genicidal Virus” any day.

We have starved and killed so many innocent people. It will come back to haunt us. The Epstein class’ rabid obsession with brutality will destroy us all. Shortage of food, energy and more natural disasters will be our punishment. The Epstein class will horde everything so that they will have plenty. For them, we are less human. We are all Palestinians.

Most of this money goes into the pockets of the Epstein class. #iran #uspol

Opinion | Iran Is a $1.3-Million-a-Minute War

We could make college accessible for all Americans, restore health care cuts and pretty much end the worst form of global hunger — and still have billions of dollars left over.

Why "scorn and dismay"? Trump comparing his surprise attack on Iran to Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor might prove to be very astute. Think about what happened to Japan after Pearl Harbor. Japan lost its empire.

How Japan Reacted to Trump’s Pearl Harbor Joke

Some people criticized President Trump’s decision to invoke a painful chapter of history. Others worried it might harm U.S.-Japan relations.
