Hi Everyone!

Iโ€™m excited to share that I just had a paper accepted in ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology (TOSEM) co-authored with @mastorey , where we present a grounded theory, rooted in cognitive science, of the developerโ€™s cognitive experience of troubleshooting and overcoming confusion.

On the spectrum and working in IT?
We think that especially in IT, research is still too often done *about* you rather than *with* you.
We want to understand what matters to you in your IT jobs, what interests you and what moves you. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re looking for participants for an interview as part of a participatory study.

ICSE 2026 - Software Engineering Education and Training (SEET) - ICSE 2026

ICSE, the IEEE/ACM International Conference on Software Engineering, is the premier software engineering conference. It will be held April 12-18 2026 in Rio de Janeiro. Core conference days will be Wednesday April 15 to Friday April 17. ICSE provides a forum where researchers, practitioners, and educators gather together to present and discuss research results, innovations, trends, experiences and issues in the field of software engineering.

400 people w/ doctorates read the same research abstract where the lead authors name was either male or female. Participants felt the discovery in the abstract was more important when the author was male & spent more time reading it (114 sec for male authored paper; 98 sec for female authored paper). https://www.forbes.com/sites/kimelsesser/2025/04/24/men-get-more-patent-credit-than-women-even-for-the-same-idea/
Men Get More Patent Credit Than Women, Even For The Same Idea

A new study finds that scientific papers authored by women are cited less often in patented inventions than those by men. Here's the reason and why it matters.

Study on Energy-Conscious Software Development

However, since hardly anyone demonstrates this holistic view when talking about OOP, and differing opinions exist within the two conceptual lines regarding the importance of each component, we have formulated a few recommendations for researchers, educators, and practitioners to move from object disorientation to object orientation.
