@cstross The one on the right is just another robot with a flesh-suit applied. Not a very realistic one.
@adamrice @Richard_Littler Same. My high school’s idea of career counseling was to bring in recruiters.
I also scored well on tests, and had bad grades. Turns out that’s common with autistics. Who knew?
@RunRichRun @gleick Goes along with the hospital ships he was going to send to Greenland, the ones in dry dock in Mobile, Alabama.

@cstross Slightly reminds me of this story fron the 80s version of The Twilight Zone.

@EricAlper The bookstore is where I go to escape.

After posting this I decided to do something I’ve been meaning to do.

Bonus pics.
Here’s a couple shots from Summer of 1985 taken at the Strategic Air Command Museum in Nebraska.
The 1st is of a XF-85 Goblin, a short, egg-shaped jet fighter made to be carried under the wing of a bomber, it could be dropped, and would be recovered by the bomber.
The 2nd is of Avro Vulcan bomber XM573. I had forgotten it was there, until I found my old photo album a few years ago.

The Space Shuttle Enterprise piggybacked on it’s 747 carrier at Dulles International Airport.

Something I posted this morning reminded me that I have these photos I’ve been wanting to scan.
The Space Shuttle Enterprise was on tour, and made a stop at Dulles International in June 1983* (that’s the date on the back of the pics). I was twelve at the time, we got a spot up front. Here’s a few shots I got with my little instamatic camera.

*I had thought it was when the Enterprise was delivered to the Smithsonian, but that was s couple years later.
