…First, you spend your whole life hiding your emotions, your pain, your frustration because each time you let yourself show it - you hurt their feelings, and you care for them and don’t want them to be hurt.

Then, they throw into your face accusations of being emotionless heartless cold inhumane creature when you don’t let them see your soul burning inside when they spit something hurtful at you. Or tell you that you don’t understand their difficulties because it has been so easy for you.

And you just mute yourself again because you can’t let yourself crumble
And you put on that fucking smile
“Oh yeah, so easy, must be gifted”

And while your soul screams at you that this is unfair, when your mind tells you this is unhealthy, when all your self-education in psychology (which you did since adolescence in order to deal with yourself and the world around) tells you to stop masking - the immense shame and all of the love you still have make you to shut the fuck up and keep that smiling pokerface…

AI Is Quietly Colonizing How You Think

When AI polishes your rough ideas, you feel understood. But recognition isn't origination, and the difference is quietly reshaping how we reason.

So, here's another fun thing about the #SAVE Act that nobody is talking about.

It would require states to check if every voter is still eligible *once a month* using federal databases that government inspectors have repeatedly flagged for high error rates.

The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 established detailed rules to stop officials from unfairly removing people from voter rolls. Those protections include: states must notify each person individually and wait through two federal elections before removing them (roughly four years), and strict limits on what evidence states can use to justify removing someone from the rolls.

The two laws contradict each other and cannot both work at the same time.

"What happens in Gaza doesn't stay in Gaza".

It's worth taking seriously what BigTech has been saying for decades:

"Even if billions perish in the coming [...] catastrophe..we shouldn’t be too concerned".

They said [climate], but also read [forever wars, poverty, pandemics].

They're white-male-supremacist, eugenicist fascists & likely malignant narcissists (psychopaths).

Well past time to stop feeding them.

Is there any way on Mastodon to automatically filter out image posts with no alt text?

Edit: think I've got my answer- thanks y'all!
Edit 2: Copy-pasting my reply to compile the solutions from the comments: The best solution for my usecase (mobile on iOS) is Martin Wenisch's fork of Phanpy (https://mastodon.cesko.digital/@mwenisch/116249807965211752 but if you're on Android the Moshidon app client is also an option and if you're on PC there's uBlock and Tampermokey scripts (https://neilzone.co.uk/2024/02/suppressing-posts-containing-images-with-no-alt-text-in-the-mastodon-advanced-web-ui-via-ublock-origin/ & https://social.jpoesen.com/@jpoesen/116250073497451531)

@[email protected] I did a quick fork of Phanpy (web client) that hides posts with images without alt text. It's on the client side: https://github.com/cheeaun/phanpy/compare/main...martinwenisch:phanpy:main I wonder if this would be an option. It'll be hard to push it to the upstream, as it's out of their scope. But if enough people would use it, I'd polish it with a settings switch and try.
