@differx @liaizon - That was “East Coast Jim Leftwich.” I’m what was for decades until last Fall “West Coast Jim Leftwich,” technology consultant and contributor to the original bOING bOING ‘zine back in the early 1990s, who’s now moved back to Missouri where I was born.

My long-time friend, writer, editor, Maker and and all-around creative fellow Gareth Branwyn (who was in Virginia, but recently moved to the SF Bay Area) was friends with both us Jim Leftwichs.

It’s grifting, opportunistic sociopathic, fascist Republican politicians. Lying, un-American, democracy-hating, decent-American-demonizing scoundrels exploiting & inflaming the working class’s worst fears, prejudices, racism, xenophobia, sexism, misogyny & economic anxiety *Republicans caused!*

And it’ll get worse until we Democrats band together in solidaity and RISE UP TO OUTVOTE THEM! Repost! Follow and Boost All Democrats!

New Fail Whale just dropped…

Trump is Big Mad
So’s his hair
Hurling ketchup
Through the air

Bellicose he
Tweets demands
Making fists
With tiny hands

Silly fascist
Narcissist
Many crimes
He can’t resist

Justice now he
Can’t avoid
All we get
Is schadenfreude

@KeithDJohnson I think this is true, but at the same time I think that the old centralized/commercialized model of early 2000s Twitter (and Facebook) needed to die and be replaced by better, more decentralized newer models.
Having participated in Internet forums and communities of many kinds since the late 1980s, I think prescribed burns are a necessary part of evolving the platforms enabling the emergence of our global overmind.

🎼🎶 Well, way down yonder on the Chattahoochee
Goats die fast as jobs of Scaramucci
They lose their noggins and we don’t know whose fault
We’ve got a little ‘spicion but they’ve never been caught🎶

The Mystery of the Headless Goats in the Chattahoochee

Charles Bethea writes about how hundreds of decapitated goat carcasses have turned up in the river that runs through metro Atlanta, and investigates whether these corpses are evidence of animal sacrifice or drug smuggling or both.

The New Yorker
A ten-panel comic about the interconnections among all things I drew in 1984 based on the television commercial character, Juan Valdez.

Since I joined Mastodon back in April I’ve been looking forward to seeing the arrival of prominent writers, scientists, artists, journalists and others that will begin greatly enriching the discourse here.

Happy to see such distinguished thinkers and writers as:

James Gleick - American author and historian of science; Chaos (1987), Genius (1992), The Information (2011)
@JamesGleick

John Markoff - Former NYT Science/Technology reporter, Stewart Brand biographer
@Markoff

@JamesGleick - Who could’ve imagined that a mostly wide-open, poorly moderated social network platform purposely designed to drastically constrain informational and communicational bandwidth would lead to emergent dysfunctional and harmful macro outcomes? (Insert shocked face of someone who’s been interacting socially on the internet and observing these dynamics since the late 1980s).
