Here to explain why hydrogen is the future of transportation, industry, energy, etc. Occasionally other societal issues too.

Biggest takeaway. Once trucking companies get seriously, they'll join this guy and buy basically all hydrogen trucks. Battery powered trucks will be mostly ignored.

The claim about hydrogen engines having to emit NOx is just a myth. When hydrogen burns at a phi below 0.5, the amount of NOx emitted drops to nearly zero.

In other words, a hydrogen engine can be truly NOx-free. As a result, H₂-ICE are fully possible and are genuinely zero emissions engine.

In reality, this is just a vicious lie made up by BEV fanboys, trying to demean a perfectly good idea.

Most interesting graph in the article. Funny how it suggests we should go with 100% FCEVs, not just as a backup technology.

750 – 850 miles is far more than what any BEV truck will be able to provide.

Batteries do not solve the fundamental problem of resource limitations. We need hydrogen cars to avoid this.

We are soon reaching full-cycle efficiencies comparable to the efficiencies of the full-cycle efficiencies of PV-based power generation. Soon, there will be no meaningful difference between powering something by #hydrogen or electricity.
The Rising Chorus of Renewable Energy Skeptics

We are going to have to dramatically downsize the dream of a future in which we replace 150-year-old fossil fuel infrastructure with “clean energy” by 2050.

Neat picture about electrolyzer growth rates. It is growing even faster than wind and solar!

This is an important point. We can't just replace fossil fuels with an equally unsustainable level of mineral mining. We must move to truly sustainable ideas even with wind and solar powering everything. That fundamentally requires hydrogen, and a lot of it. And a lot of less of unsustainable technologies like batteries.

@Hypx Do you consider the battery technologies that have high energy density but do not rely on heavy earths nonfeasible? Is efficient ocean extraction of lithium a pipe dream?

@davey You do realize that hydrogen fuel cells are a type of battery that meets that criteria? Once you realize that water can be made into a battery, what is the motivation for other ideas?

It quickly becomes a pointless venture. Some other chemistry could make sense but as auxiliary batteries. But you will not consider them as your main energy storage system.

@Hypx Okay, if you insist, I will not consider them as a candidate for the primary storage system in this discussion. I do agree that at this point, the choice has serious flaws.
@davey There are no serious flaws. A energy storage mechanism that is practically infinite in availability is close to the holy grail of energy storage.
@Hypx totally 100% agree with your analysis
