#ECJ: Member States may make provision for competitors of the person allegedly responsible for an infringement of the laws protecting #PersonalData to challenge that infringement in court as a prohibited unfair commercial practice # GDPR 👉 https://curia.europa.eu/jcms/jcms/Jo2_7052/

#AI #GenerativeAI #Automation #AIArt #Work: "In other words, Nephew thinks the tech is overhyped and under-functional, that separating her company from the pack before the trend implodes is the smart move. Likewise, AnswerConnect, a Portland, Oregon–based call-center company, also trumpets a “People, Not Bots” tagline. It commissioned a report from the market-research agency OnePoll, which found that 78 percent of respondents “prefer to speak with a real person when they contact a company.” If all that is true, then it makes sense to eschew AI in favor of human workers.

Behind all these ai-free labels lurks a question, one that rings out even louder as the limitations of generative AI become painfully clear, as the companies responsible for it become more ethically compromised: What is the AI-generated variety for? People generally prefer humans in customer service over AI and automated systems. AI art is widely maligned online; teens have taken to disparaging it as “Boomer art.” AI doesn’t offer better products, necessarily: It just offers more, and for less money. Are we willing to trade away humanity for that?"

Excuse Me, Is There AI in That?

Businesses and creators see a new opportunity in the anti-AI movement.

Many times humans have incorrectly been characterised as the machine in #TuringTest experiments. In 1991, the very first Loebner Prize for an AI, a hidden human was considered a machine due to her extensive knowledge of Shakespeare.

In the 1970s, psychiatrists couldn't distinguish between PARRY, a chatbot simulating paranoia, and a human patient suffering from schizophrenia. So this 'bot convinces judges that it's a human' phenomenon is not new and tells us more about how humans think.

Welp, I knew Microsoft's CoPilot+ Recall was going to be a privacy disaster but I didn't expect it to turn into an enterprise computing catastrophe for Microsoft *quite* this fast!

But this can't be a one-off. Any large enterprise that has to comply with a regulated privacy environment—HIPAA in the USA, GDPR in the EU, banking/insurance/finance globally—must be considering a ban on Microsoft installations on laptop/desktop computers right now or be breaking the law.

If you’re wondering how the Microsoft Recall scandal is going, I’ve just had a client tell me they’ve replaced their order for 10k Microsoft Surfaces with new MacBook Airs, at nearly twice the cost, and that we need to start the ongoing 6 month endpoint security project over.

If I was a university prof and a student's parent contacted me demanding that I change their grade I would get my mom to write back to them & tell them to leave me alone

Windows Recall demands an extraordinary level of trust that Microsoft hasn’t earned

Op-ed: The risks to Recall are way too high for security to be secondary.

Science isn’t “truth.” It isn’t simply a series of facts.

Science is an iterative process. We continue to test hypotheses & refine ideas.

Science is always changing as we learn more.
