A special counsel, Jack Smith, will oversee the criminal investigations into the purloining of national defense info but Trump & Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection. Smith is a former chief prosecutor for the special court in The Hague.
I write about coups and war crimes for a living. I think the choice of Jack Smith is fascinating one as it takes a certain skill set to prosecute at The Hague. In a way, he is particularly well-suited to overseeing investigations into Jan 6 insurrection.
Celebrating Democratic victory is essential. We Democrats need to take victory laps.
As we celebrate holding the Senate, let's note that Election Day is over and the Purloiner of Classified Papers and National Secrets Thief is still waddling around freely.

New Clark Co, Nevada in! CCM get 14k more votes; Laxalt gets 8k more. She's still north of 60% of the vote share. And there it is -- CCM is now in the lead about 5k ahead. MSNBC calls it. IT IS DONE. BLUE, BABY!!!!!
If CCM, Kelly, and Warnock win re-election for the Senate, it will be the first time EVER that every incumbent in a party was re-elected. If it happens, it will be up to us to force the media to recalibrate its bullshit narrative of "Democrats in disarray."
By my calculations, as of Nov 11, Dems are leading in or have won 214 seats. That means we need to win 4 of the following: CA13, CA22, CA27, CA41, CA45, CO03, NY22, OR05. It is a tough lift but not impossible. Even if we don't do it, we will only be short approximately 2 seats.
I am going to admit I cannot leave my house. All i do is press refresh to see if Gun Nut Barbie (Boebert) has been defeated. Don't judge me. I am stocked with steak and wine.
It is 2 am in Hawaii and I have a 6 am meeting with the mainland, so I am going to catch some sleep. But let me say good night and note that Democrats and Joe Biden defied the odds. Celebrate the wins, Dems, such as they are. Own our power.
