As a millennial I am ashamed of myself for believing that I didn't need to do what my parents did for me. I didn't pass on what I learned to the younger generation. I didn't teach them to parse lies, to question everything, and to be better. I'm sure they wouldn't have listened at first, but my parents never gave up on my, and I should have never gave up on them.

Oh, and for the Democrats who are pretty obviously taking the wrong message from this. Fuck off. "We went too far left", no you fuckers, you abandoned your constituency. You abandoned everything that made people WANT to vote for you. YOU did this to YOURSELF and you are blaming it on being to woke? Yeah, no. Get off your high horse and look at the people actually suffering. Not one group, everyone. "The economy was great under Biden" sure, but the poor working class doesn't see it. #democrats
We shouldn't be defeatist about this though. We need to fight constantly. We need to fight even when we are winning. We can't stop. I know many people are feeling confused and frightened, and you should, I'm not going to lie, but we don't survive this by rolling over. We survive this by creating bonds. Social media got us in this mess, but it also a powerful tool to get us out. Use it. Connect. Remember that nobody actually controls a federated social media site.
Let me get 100% real with everyone. America didn't become like this overnight. We got like this because the constant back and forth of Democrat/Republican races pushed us further and further right. To put it simply, the government made us a frog in a pot and slowly turned up the heat. We were lulled into a sense of security, and we stopped fighting for basic rights. Calls for unity with the other side wont work, we have to unify among ourselves and protect our own community any way possible.
