"In Poland, a case study considering agri-PV and wheat concludes that revenues per hectare can be twelve times higher than those from wheat crops alone, Ember said, with a potential annual profit of €1268 per hectare from the combined electricity and wheat sales — a stark contrast with traditional wheat production that is estimated to be generating net losses in 2024."

Even a fraction of that kind of yield would already be exciting.

Solar panels and crops could meet 68% of central Europe’s power demand

Combining farming with green energy production could also increase food security and generate additional income for farmers, according to a new study.

In one week two positive treatments of #degrowth in the UK national press.

1) The second of 2 articles in the Morning Star - not brilliant but not wrong: https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/what-should-we-do-about-degrowth-0

2) Article in the Guardian - very sympathetic and dismisses some myths.  https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/aug/27/what-is-degrowth-can-it-save-planet

It's worth sending a letter to each to indicate wider support:

What should we do about ‘degrowth’?

The ‘degrowth’ debate raises critical issues to which only a Marxist approach can provide answers, argues the Marx Memorial Library

There's little climate-justice to be found in the Pacific:

hardly producing any of the drivers of human-induced climate change, the Pacific islands are on the front-line dealing with sea-level rises....

As so often our actions (or inaction!) in the developed continents is having a massive impact on people we hardly see or think about.

Without global solidarity & empathy, we will likely continue to do nothing to materially help these island peoples.
