This haiga was published in Kokako 42. It was based on a moment I shared with this wax-eye, where we were the only two, and my presence didn't bother him at all. I realised he wasn't chirping, wasn't letting on about the bounty he had discovered (there was a row of cherry trees with no other bird that I could see). I stood still, just 'listening' with my eyes and heart (shen), absorbing the beauty. Then I saw that he was listening to a different voice, but that the tree had its voice too
