Made some dairy free spinach dip, from scratch, no soup mix packet. So of course I had to make some of my signature sourdough bread for ripping up to dip in it.

Such a yummy afternoon snack! This is about as open a crumb as I want in my sourdough, in fact this is a little too open for my tastes, but I was in a rush when I made this loaf so didn't press out as much air as I usually do before making my final loaf shape.

It's been a while but I got experimental today with some pumpkin flour I made from a large fall pumpkin we were gifted that I dehydrated then ground down.

Made some savory pumpkin buttermilk biscuits (in the US vernacular) to go with dinner tonight and for breakfast sandwiches next week.

There's also a bit of dried green onion, Dubliner cheese, and garlic in them. They came out pretty tasty. I think I can up the amount of cheese and garlic just a tad bit more though.

If anyone's curious here's what my painting project looks like, the bottom of the staircase has a low overhang and I'm about 1/3 of the way done with painting in the faux grout lines on the faux brick work.

At the top the stairs I have it all painted in. Will do some additional shading in the "grout" and putting texture on the bricks but this gives one a general idea of where its heading.

This stairwell used to be just boring AF white. Far more visually interesting now.

Been tied up with painting our front stairs stair well. What was boring white is now being painted as faux brick on two walls and a golden gradient down the two side walls.

So haven't had a lot of time for baking the past couple weeks. I did do a batch of sourdough English muffins for us and a Cinnamon Snowflake bread for the roofers who arrived today to install our metal roof.

A couple of pies I made to cut up to stock the cooler we keep on the porch for delivery peeps during the holiday season.

A Spiced Cherry Pie and a Harvest Home Apple Pie. Since these were freebies made to be cut up into individual portions, I didn't get fancy with the crust, simple "rope" edges and basic top crust on the cherry, no lattice.

And yes, I did keep a couple slices back of each for us!

Been a busy gal between making baked goods gifts for neighbors and delivery folks coming to the house as well as regular customer orders.

I did do a second experimental batch of Marranitos, this time made with traditional Mexican piloncillo instead of brown sugar. This recipe doesn't use any ginger or molasses so they were much lighter in color. Good subtle flavor but I think in the future I'll hybridize the two recipes. Use piloncillo but with molasses and ginger too.

As promised, I made a batch of holiday cookies that are one of my faves. Chocolate crinkle cookies!

They are essentially brownies in cookie form. I do add a little Creme de Menthe to mine as I'm a big fan of mint and chocolate together.

Some of these will likely end up in the cooler of treats I'll put out for our delivery peeps starting tomorrow. I always set out an array of some baked goodness for delivery folk in the run up to Christmas as my thank you to all of them.

After delivering the star bread yesterday, I knocked us out a half batch of Mexican Wedding Cookies, have also seen them called Russian Tea Cakes, or Snowballs.

Usually made with finely diced pecans but I used hickory nuts our neighbor let me gather from their shagbark hickory tree. So I shelled enough to make a cup and used them in these.

Working on some sourdough now and I think I might make us some of one of my other fave Holiday cookies tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Working on my first cinnamon snowflake (star) bread of the season. The dough will cold proof overnight in the fridge before being shaped and baked tomorrow morning.

It's basically an ostentatious cinnamon roll and makes for a yummy breakfast treat, or lunch treat, or dinner treat.... who am I kiddin? Its basically good anytime 😆

Also Happy #Krampusnacht all. Hope you haven't been naughty!

Tried my hand at making some #Marranitos today. You might think these are just gingerbread cookies shaped like a pig but their texture is quite a bit different from traditional gingerbread cookies.

These are more like a cross between a cookie and cake texture wise. These tasty little piggies are popular in Mexico and in Mexican American communities.

This recipe was good but am also going to try a more traditional recipe that uses piloncillo (Mexican cane sugar).
