My final literary pilgrimage video (for the time being) is now up on YouTube. It's about Mary Shelley and where she is buried... and also about where she is not buried, and how she is memorialised, and how people have tried to use and control her in death.

This week's Literary Pilgrimage, all about Anne Brontë and her final poem, is now live on my Youtube channel.

Anne isn't so well known for her poetry but I think her final poem is incredible, and a rare example of someone confronting their own death and coming to terms with it.

My latest Youtube video, filmed in Prague where I followed the life and work of Franz Kafka, is now live.

2024 is the 100th anniversary of Kafka's death: a great time to think about #Kafka and explore his work.

A thing has appeared in the Quad at Pembroke.

If you’re looking to enjoy some #Dracula goodness before #DraculaDaily returns, here’s a brand new video on #BramStoker in #Whitby by my wonderful colleague @Gabrielschenk. Check it out! #Gothic #Horror #Bookstodon 🦇

Also it was great to visit the graveyard where #Poe and #Lovecraft also visited! I have been here virtually so many times thanks to @drahsturgis (without whom I wouldn't have even known about the graveyard) and it was so lovely to be there in person. I sat under the tree and read aloud Poe's poem "Spirits of the Dead" to the spirits surrounding me. #Gothic
Went to Lovecraft's grave in Providence yesterday, in the rain, and again this morning, in the sun. The second time there I noticed this crown and cross symbol on the family obelisk. Anyone know what it means? #Lovecraft #CosmicHorror
Lovely evening at Pembroke. My thanks to Will, @Gabrielschenk, the current MCR crowd and, of course, @MariaDahvana. Also I got to meet Grim who is adorable.

This is going on my TBR list! (It's a long list, currently, but I'm looking forward to being able to read all the books eventually!)

I actually quite like this patriotic, anti-Napoleon poem by Tennyson, unpublished, because of a) e banging rhythm and b) the profuse use of exclamation marks in the title!!!
