Today I learned that "sir" Francis Drake was a jerk and is the reason why almost a century of administrative records don't exist on the island La Española. Actually, no need to sugar coat it. He wasn't a jerk, he was a terrorist and a thief.

When Twitter was renamed I left that social media platform and basically replaced it with Instagram. Have been getting tired with videos glitching there, not necessarily the content, and it reminded me about the fediverse... checking it out again. 5 May 2026.

It's a real shame that some key cities in Florida will be underwater in 30 years or so.
I don't know why, but the state of some coastal cities in/around 2040 or 2050 really bugs me. Not that I'm "worried", but if these cities will be partly underwater by then this is going to be a bit of an issue.
Is everyone going to come crawling to Mastodon now that EM owns Twitter???

So far Mastodon seems a lot more multilingual than Twitter. Not sure how much of this is generally true versus just my user experience.
