iOS and iPadOS client for Mastodon, Glitch, GotoSocial, Akkoma, Iceshrimp, and more! Maintained by Vyr @vyr and Brian @[email protected].

Please see this account's pinned post to join the TestFlight beta program, as we're not yet in the App Store. You do not need to DM us.

Feditext is a community continuation of @metabolist's incredible work on Metatext, which is no longer in development.

Feditext users: it's possible to use iOS client-side translation for many languages by selecting post text and then "Translate" from the text services menu. see the attached video. (this also works in Metatext, but if you're still using that, upgrade!)

we already have an open issue to improve translation UX to catch up with other clients, including support for server-side translation where available https://github.com/feditext/feditext/issues/14

Offer translation when supported by server instance · Issue #14 · feditext/feditext

My instance supports translation and there is a test user I can offer if needed.

Feditext beta users: version 1.7.2 build 119 comes with slightly improved support for following hashtags.

- highlights followed tags on posts that would not otherwise be in your home timeline, so that you know why you're seeing the posts
- enables the feature for GotoSocial 0.17: https://github.com/superseriousbusiness/gotosocial/pull/3141

Feditext beta users: today's version 1.7.2 build 115 includes partial support for server-side filtering on instances that have it (Mastodon 4, GotoSocial 0.16).

it also changes the filter UX to allow you to view filtered posts if you really want to. you can get the previous behavior where filtered posts are not shown at all by switching filters to "Drop instead of hide", which is now supported on GtS.

next up: full v2 filter support, including filtering individual posts.

for the curious, here's the difference between what we can see without crash data and what we can see with it

Feditext beta users: in order to track down and fix app crashes, especially the startup crash, we need to ask you for full crash data reporting. a few of you have this turned on already (thank you) but we're not getting the coverage we need.

please go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements and enable Share iPhone & Watch Analytics and Share With App Developers. see the attached screenshots.

Feditext beta users: the Feditext Centennial Update (version 1.7.2 build 100) fixes two long-standing issues:
- https://github.com/feditext/feditext/issues/100 (deleted toot handling)
- https://github.com/feditext/feditext/issues/104 (network error UX)

non-actionable and/or transient errors now show up as toasts instead of modals. this update is recommended for all Feditext users.

VoiceOver users will hear them read as announcements. toasts will not be animated if reduce motion is on. you can turn them off in app prefs.

Feditext beta users: today's 1.7.2 build 91 fixes most known Siren text formatting bugs, and renders <hr> tags on instances that support them.

at this point, we recommend that all users turn on Siren. it's at the bottom of the app preferences list: see attached screenshot.

next priorities for us are reducing error messages and then launching on the App Store.
