NOAA cut funding to the Alaska Earthquake Center, directed by my friend Mike West. As a result, seismic monitoring by nine stations in Alaska tracking tsunami-causing earthquakes will go offline by the end of the month. This endangers people in Alaska, Hawaiʻi, and other parts of the Pacific.

So a woman currently conducting a long-needed social project: Calling churches around the US, and asking if they would be able to help feed a baby by donating formula. Not money, not food. Just one can of formula, simply to see if these “churches” follow the basic fundamentals of their religious doctrine.

So it’s going exactly the way you’d expect: Most churches are a no, and are Christian based. Majority saying “yes” are Catholic or African-American based congregations.

@spaf I don't think the problem is withthe shutdown at all. I've heard it covered quite well by npn-US news. I feel like the provlem is that, internationally, almpst no one except the Germans seems to be taking the horror of the US seriously.

Most countries won't process an asylum claim for US citizens, many think DJT was the will of the people(despite only being elected by 22% of the population), and few seem to be prepared, or interested in preparing, to counter the US Govt.
