Designer, overthinker, writer, artist, crafter, pigeon enthusiast.

Queer, Lesbian, Black, religious, anarcho-socialist. Failed physicist, wannabe complex systems scientist, digital troublemaker and infrastructural organiser. Seeking a vocation and attempting to do justly, mercifully.

Just riddled with intersections tbh.

Well, I'm never using the Maze testing product again. Literally seems to be run by bots and salespeople who don't want money - bizarre.

We're creating a toolkit for using African Speculative Fiction for policy making and review - help us out by giving feedback on the overall structure of the website:

How should we tag the stories?

We are creating an online African Speculative Fiction toolkit, which is intended to help create equitable and socially responsible policy making for STEM projects. All the stories and articles will be tagged by themes and topics to make them easier to find. In this survey you will be asked to: Give us your feedback on some of the proposed tags which will be used to organise stories Tell us how you would try to filter through the various short stories, essays and other content within the toolkit Share your thoughts on how this toolkit could be useful for your work. If you have any questions, do get in touch to [email protected]

The worst thing about having grown up "alternative" in such a silly era like the 90s is that now it's back in vogue, I can't even fall for any of the re-emerging fads again.

Trying to find inclusive ways of describing math processes like 'rounding up/down' and its not that easy actually!

I mean, I will just have to give a description on the website (which runs the slight risk of having more text) but it does make me wonder given wider challenges that people have with numerical confidence.

The irony was that even though the guy was comparatively new to the area... he too had learned some cool stuff about its history.

More's the pity I guess and certainly less of an excuse. That lot know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

So it's that time of the year when political parties send their wettest and most enthusiastic round the streets which I'd mostly forgotten. This was probably why I went into a stout demand for the local Museum to Conservative hopefuls*, only to remember (once I'd shut the door) that they'd been the ones to close it in the first place...

*I mean I go on about it to everyone, not just them, don't worry. Never trust a Tory.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, in those countries where gender pay gap reporting is mandatory & public the gap between men & women's salaries has been narrowing....

Its not just the issue of publicity but also of empowerment - keeping the gap obscure meant many women were not fully aware of their lower pay - making the gap transparent empowers women (and the union representatives) to act to narrow it.
