Kyiv Type Foundry have digitised six typefaces from historical Kyiv subway station signage. Their new 'Metro Fonts' are free for Ukrainians to use, donation-based for the rest of the world. Donations will be given to those in need.

Some of that is the dispersal of social media where conversations felt easier to join in with but I do wonder (aligning with points raised about development within the sector) about what it says regarding opportunities for the experienced but not in leadership to continually find new challenges and spaces for connection.
I’ve really enjoyed this years Museums and Heritage show but on a personal note, as I see so many colleagues leave the sector, and more people having to focus inwards versus on systemic change, it’s been (personally) oddly lonely #MandH26
A really good read on learnings about democratic structures in participatory design - https://theglasshouse.org.uk/glass-house-chats/glass-house-chats-designing-in-democracy-takeaways/
Glass House Chats: Designing in Democracy

Our April Glass-House Chat was co-hosted with Daisy Froud, specialist in participatory design and co-production. Together we explored what it means to collaborate through design within the context of a democratic society and institutions, as well as how we might bring more democratic systems and processes into design and placemaking.

Canvas hack is extremely bad, the "biggest student data privacy disaster in history" because it contains billions of messages between students and their professors, which can be extremely sensitive: "There's personal circumstances, medical circumstances, accessibility accommodations, disputes, sexual assault allegations, like all sorts of stuff would be getting reported to the instructor using Canvas."

Messages could include "medical circumstances, accessibility accommodations, disputes, sexual assault allegations," and more.

Watching this video on the latest Phase out climate conference and it strikes me that their use of the consensus model is pretty much exactly what gets recommended but just as often dismissed when applied to social discourse: there is no point trying to get consensus from the fundamentally unwilling.

Interesting, that!

Right, got it to work (probably not with an optimal prompt but... I don't care, a rough output is fine for now). Providing an image, getting it to generate a webpage and asking it to give the html+css it would use worked out OK!

Interestingly, the output was about a third larger than a similar output from Figma Make, so maybe needs to work on the code bloat?

OK so it's interesting that whilst it generates an example (see https://thaura.ai/?share=b2966af8-f7ad-4c06-be8a-3c41bfde1276), it looks like I'll have to go into the inspector to actually get the code...

And fwiw, I've found that thaura.ai https://thaura.ai/ has a vibe coding feature, but as I need to try several prompts to get something close to the spec, any carbon savings will definitely be moot!

Are there any recommended mutual aid funds for eco-activists, or community groups e.g. indigenous forest defenders?

Need to do some vibe coding for a work project and there's nothing like GreenPT to even try a greenwashed solution, so thinking about trying to 'pay back' in other ways...
