Found an excerpt for the Altecs from a June 1963 issue of Hifi magazine. "This is no compact!" is right.

The Altec voice-of-the-theater resurrection finally wraps up. Demo'd last night for the first time and they sound absolutely phenomenal. 416a LF and 806-8a HF with an 811b horn. Played around with an active digital crossover but will probably settle on a vintage N500-F network. So happy with how these turned out.

Getting close to the finish line on the cabinets. Paint this weekend, and then the components and wiring next week. Looking forward to playing around with the crossover to see what cutoff sounds best. #audiophile #altec
So much sanding and stripping but finally started putting new sheets on the Altec cabinets this weekend, and they’re starting to look respectable. #audio
Started working on the Altec theatre cabinets I picked up last week. Lots of sanding and dry rot to deal with but the bones are strong.
Finally took the step of deleting twitter off my phone this morning. I'm all in here now.
Extremely refreshing to :
-come here and pull to refresh and there are simply no new posts
-scroll for a bit and eventually get to the end of all the new posts
@joshuatopolsky you need to get Devon Turnbull on What Future, I feel like there’s something interesting going on with ojas.nyc

They both suck, in my opinion
