This is my primary stop every time I visit the capital.

Commuting by train gets really old. Every other week, I have to travel for eight hours, then back again for another eight hours at the end of the week. I miss my family. At least with modern technology (smartphone, Nintendo Switch, etc) it's a lot less terrible than it would have been 15 years ago to be stuck on a train for so long.

Am I the only one who thinks IRC-like "channels" in Mastodon would be a good idea? That way you could discuss a specific topic with others in a dedicated channel, without spamming all your followers with channel-related chat. Think of it as a mini-Slack or mini-IRC inside Mastodon.

Damn, the federated timeline is mostly a Japanese spam-o-rama. Nothing wrong with Japanese per se (I'm trying off and on to learn it), but it's just not what I want to see. Makes me wish Mastodon had a language filter setting that I could set to only show posts in languages that I can read.

The local timeline feature is great. I think I've connected with more people there today than I did in total on Twitter during the last 10 years. More or less.
