I just bought a hardcover copy of The AI Con, written by @alex and @emilymbender.
I'm so glad I heard about this book. I can't wait to start reading it!

Iβve been listening to this song on repeat for days! It is SO GOOD!
I think it would make a fantastic new United States national anthem once democracy is restored. Just a suggestion.
If you're still unsure about participating to the protest this Saturday on October 18th, this song might convince you βπ
Check out my new shirt!

Tiny Mastodon Tip About Quote Posts
π’
If your instance is already running the newly released version Mastodon 4.4,
Know that in preparation for the full implementation, the team has included a consent setting for the upcoming Quote Post feature.
While quoting a post will not
be available as a native feature until Mastodon 4.5 later this year, it's wonderful that you can adjust if you want in or not before it even arrives!
HOW TOβ
1. From the web interface, go to "Preferences" on the right-side menu. Then click on "Other" under the "Preferences" section
2. If your instance was newly updated, you should now see an option in "Posting Defaults" for "Who can quote" (see image below) π
Note: If the option isn't there, your instance has not updated to the version including it yet. Be patient, it will likely be added in the weeks to come.
3. From the "Who can quote" drop-menu, you can choose either "Everyone", "Followers and mentioned users", or "Only mentioned users"
4. Once the next version is released, you will be ready for Quote Posts! No matter your choices πͺ
5. Enjoy the freedom of choosing the features you wish to participate in (or not)! πβ¨
For more information on Quote Posts, you can read Mastodon's announcement blog about it here: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/02/bringing-quote-posts-to-mastodon/

by me:
If you are an Apple user looking for a free, open-source, and privacy-focused password manager, KeePassium is a fantastic option.
KeePassium offers synchronization options, but allows you to keep your password database offline by default.
It's also KeePass-compatible, which makes migrating from or to any other KeePass-compatible apps easy.
Check the full review here: https://www.privacyguides.org/articles/2025/05/13/keepassium-review/

If you need a password manager for iOS or macOS that gives you full control over your data, KeePassium is a fantastic option. With KeePassium, you can keep your password database offline entirely, or choose whomever you trust to store it. You can also change this anytime.
New Privacy Guides article ποΈβοΈ
by me:
Last week, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman
announced his ambitious plan for the World project, formerly known as Worldcoin.
The company opened 6 stores where people can go to get their biometric data collected from a creepy iris scanner called The Orb.
But this isn't just a cryptocurrency grift anymore, this is much more dystopian.
In this article, I describe the risk of using such service, the unethical practices the World project has been employing to gather numbers, and how this is a slippery slope towards the normalization of mass surveillance we should all worry about.
Say NO to the Orb!
Don't scan your eyeballs! ποΈπ ββοΈ

Last week, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman announced in San Francisco that the World project he co-founded, formerly known as Worldcoin, is opening six stores across the United States, allowing users of the project's app to scan their eyeballs. This is worrisome, to say the least.
