I'm a #nature, #gardening and #food enthusiast externalizing the internal monologue. #bees #bumblebees #butterflies #birds #food #sewing #cooking #gardening #words. Midwest USA, USDA Zone 5a/b 🐝🌳 🦅 🌎🏳️‍🌈
Here's the quilt top I pieced on my computerized Janome machine and then assembled with my new vintage Singer. All thrifted fabric. I want to back it with dark fabric close to the blackish one on the top. No luck so far as the search continues. I may just purchase fabric but I'm in no hurry. The finished size is 60"x66"/152x168 cm.

Loving the new old vintage #sewing machine I picked up for when my new new computerized machine is getting maintenance. This Singer Slant-o-Matic 401A was built in 1960 and runs like a dream. And who doesn't love anything with "o-Matic" in the name? I used it to assemble a bunch of quilt blocks, the results of which I'll be sharing soon.

Got to see my first ever American Golden-Plover the other day in #Hawaii! This must be a juvenile or non-breeding adult because it lacks the striking black face, chest and belly. #birds #birding

Nine thrifted shirts and a technique I made up myself (but probably isn’t original) and I’m almost finished with this piece I’m calling “Storm at Oxford.” It’s machine pieced and big stitch hand quilted with variegated #8 perle cotton and measures 42”x48” (107x122cm.)

Finished my paper airplane FPP #quilt recently and am already well into the next project. Except for the backing which I don't like enough to show it's all thrifted and salvaged fabric. Each plane is ditch stitched on my machine and then the "speed lines" are big hand stitching. #sewing #quilting
A while back I started making a wee bottle of pre-mixed #martinis stashed in the freezer per an article suggested by my husband who follows some #cocktail people. I’m liking the chilly result. I was making them with Lillet Blanc which produced an almost syrupy result. Now that I’m using extra dry vermouth there are these lovely ice crystals in the pour. It’s only 2% less alcohol and I don’t know the sugar comparison but I like how it looks. #cocktails
Trying my hand at some big stitch #quilting on a small project and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a free FPP pattern from Quiet Play https://quietplay.blogspot.com/2013/04/up-in-air-we-fly.html?m=1 that I modified for my design. The outlines of the plane motif were machine stitched in (or near…) the ditch.
Got the rest of the #onions cleaned up today. Had a poor crop last year so my co-conspirator suggested we order three bunches of plants rather than the usual two. They all did great though some bolted. I think we’ll be driving some down the road to the food pantry and foisting them off on friends. And it’s no coincidence a pot of French onion soup is simmering on the stove as I write this. #vegetables #gardening #food @gardening
Time to make another batch of #tomato jam! I love this stuff on so many things, mostly eggs, cheese, and meats. #tomatoes #gardening #seedToTable
A yellow ladyslipper #orchid that's a cherished division from my late grandmother's garden. She collected it off the former family farm some time in the 1940s or '50s, I believe. I love to see it bloom every year. #Wisconsin #wildflowers #flower
