This isn't just surprising, but honestly real upsetting.
Like yes, I'm totally still reeling from our show getting axed, and in addition to many other pre-existing choice thoughts on Netflix in general that will be saved for later. But this is just plain stupid.
Basing the decision of whether or not to renew the series ONLY on how it performed for the first 30 days is ridiculous. 30 days and that's it?

Also, that first scene of Edwin having that little chat with Simon in hell absolutely broke me the first time I watched it, and it still brings me to tears every time I rewatch it. 🥹

And episode 3 was also great. (Yes, I'm enjoying the show, can you tell?).
Took a few moments to get over "wait, that's Clara isn't it?" but Joanna Constantine is her own foul mouthed creature who I was thoroughly sold on after those few moments. Again with the darkly comic moments, like the exorcism.
Lots of stuff in this one that was thematic statements for the whole edifice, even tho I only half remember the overall arc.

Did these two as a double feature as ep 2 was so short. Short but mostly quite sweet – I loved the whole bit with the gargoyles and Cain & Abel. It's a dark motif for the comic relief but it was absolutely pitch perfect, I don't remember enjoying them as much in the comics.
And loved the Fates – I much prefer "1 question 1 answer" to "oh whoops you used your questions!"
The change to Lucienne took me back a bit because that character design was one that stuck in my mind, but having got to the end of the episode I'm more left wondering what bird she is because he always had something of the vulture and she had a very bird-like tilt to the head.
I thought Alex was nicely done, starting out likeable and turning out to be so very damaged by his upbringing.
And Jessame(sp?) was great, it was such a shame :(

I only half remember the graphic novels, it's been more than a decade since I read them last, but this *felt* right and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season (except I may skip the bit I never liked to re-read, I think that's the 24/7 episode).
