so since I am here now, allow me to do some SLEEP PROPAGANDA

SLEEP IS GOOD

SLEEP IS IMPORTANT

SLEEP IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY EDUCATION OR JOB

and the fact that we are forced to compromise on sleep in order to fulfill duties to capitalism is an immense injustice and health risk.

lack of sleep obviously increases stress levels and therefore the risk for all kinds of diseases, but it also damages your brain on a cellular level because SLEEP MAINTAINS THE INTEGRITY OF YOUR BRAIN.

Humanities & social science profs: how did it happen that STEM and business profs earn so much more than we do? Is there discourse/debate about pay equity between fields and disciplines? How did this come to be normalized?

The only answer I’ve heard is that the university has to compete with what “industry” (i.e. corporations) are willing to pay professors in those fields.

(I realize there are more pressing forms of pay inequity, e.g. the gender pay gap and the stark difference between the income and job security of tenure track and contingent faculty. TT faculty should be organizing with our contingent/non-TT colleagues. In *addition* to this, I’m also wondering about how value is distributed between the disciplines.)

From the Combahee River Collective Statement, and it feels like half the stupid arguments I've had about "men" in my life could have been prevented with this one clarification
If Twitter goes under it would be a pretty big day in the history of social media, but still not as big as the day of THE DRESS.
Who else is just flipping back and forth between here and Twitter? I should go to bed but...
@victorerikray hi Victor!
A little historical counter-programming to recent news of women in the financial markets. Gaze upon this majestic photo of Kathleen de vere Taylor, the first woman to manage a brokerage office in #NYC She solely hired women and only managed women's accounts. On the exec committee of the National Birth Control League despite her longterm relationship with another woman, Frances Maule. And a member of Heterodoxy, the feminist social club in Greenwich Village #queerhistory #womenshistory

I need some help! 🚨

Would any of my handful of followers on here like to try beta-testing a new game for me?

It's a word puzzle; you have 100 seconds to find as many words as possible that fit the letters/blanks you are given. As time goes on, there are more words available for you to find.

If you get a chance to play, let me know if anything doesn't work, or looks wrong.

The game has no name yet, but here's the dev server:
