Chasten Buttigieg Rips Kim Davis' Sordid Marriage History

No lies detected.

Comic Sands

@georgetakei Personally, I don't care at all about her personal conjugal life. That's her and her three-make-four husbands' business. As it is exclusively the business of a gay couple, whether they decide to marry or not.

But frankly, if decency, tolerance, and common sense were a thing for those hypocrites, they wouldn't have voted three times for an orange pedophile 🍊👶

@tagesschau "Unerwartet hoch"???

If Trump came for their guns they’d lay them down for him.

"Germany had a complicated reckoning with its Nazi past — will post-Trump America face a similar reckoning?

Trump’s inner circle will remain loyal, but the rest of the country has a choice to make.

Eight decades ago, one of the most formidable challenges for postwar Germany was what to do about the millions of Germans who remained diehard loyalists of Adolf Hitler. With a third of Americans seemingly in hypnotic thrall to Donald Trump, we face a similar reckoning.

If you had asked a middle-aged German in 1950 what they thought of Hitler, you’d likely have heard: The American occupiers’ denazification policies are making us victims for a second time; I didn’t do anything bad during the war; and Hitler actually did some good things for the country.

What if, five years from now, someone asks a diehard Trump supporter what they think of him today? The answer will depend on what happens in America over the next five years. Will democracy prevail over Trump’s autocratic ambitions? If it does, will his supporters regret throwing in their lot with him? If, on the other hand, democracy dies, will they reflect at all on what was lost?

Six months ago, questions like these might have sounded unnecessarily dire. That’s because most Americans didn’t believe Trump would act so quickly and aggressively to dismantle the nation’s democratic pillars — despite the very clear signs, and his own pronouncements, that this was his plan.

So now, here we are. The deep divide separating Americans is a national crisis that goes beyond ideology. The core of the problem is this — a large slice of America believes in making decisions based on proven facts, while another large slice believes whatever Trump tells them, even when he is obviously lying and acting against their own interests.

Are there any signs that we can come together as a country, that sanity can return to politics, and that together we can save democracy? To understand what may lie ahead, it’s worth examining how postwar Germany grappled with its own authoritarian legacy.

Hitler worship did not die with his suicide; it merely receded into the shadows."

Germany had a complicated reckoning with its Nazi past — will post-Trump America face a similar reckoning?

After WWII, Germany had a complicated reckoning with its Nazi past; in a post-Trump world, America may face a similar reckoning.

The Forward

@LevZadov The true German reckoning came in the 60s when the children of the NS generation, those who were born in 40s and 50s, came of age. They started asking their evasive parents the inconvenient questions, such as "how could YOU have let this happen?", "what have YOU done in the 3rd Reich?", etc.

The "German Fall" and its extreme-left terrorism was, in part, a reaction to still seeing "former" Nazis everywhere around.

Only here did Germany fully reap what it had sown 30 years ago.

Trump tariffs could increase factory costs by up to 4.5%: analysis

A new analysis suggests President Donald Trump's tariffs could increase factory costs by 2% to 4.5%. The analysis highlights potential challenges for domestic manufacturers relying on global supply chains just as the Republican president prepares to announce tariff hikes he says will boost the U.S. economy. While the U.S. stock market shows relief tariffs aren't as high as initially threatened, concerns remain about higher prices and slower growth. Tuesday's analysis by the Washington Center for Equitable Growth warns of economic and political costs, especially in swing states with significant manufacturing sectors, like Michigan and Wisconsin.

@PeasLuvnJustice Wait until those MAGA morons find out where the lithographic chip-printers are coming from. Unless a U.S. company learns to build them from scratch themselves (which includes laser and optical systems), even chip production in the U.S. will be hit by tarrifs.

Globalisation (which certainly has its dark sides) is also about excellence: to produce a competitive product, you need competitive raw materials and tools. So, naturally, you'd want the best the WORLD can offer.

@BeaBi @tagesschau Das war auch mein erster Gedanke. Das, und natürlich die Frage ob es bei einem Dollarkurs auf Talfahrt so eine gute Idee ist noch mehr Geld zu drucken.

I believe we need to know about the lies, fearmongering, gaslighting, disinformation, & propaganda that the WH official acct
