Spitball idea for iOS: When doing a screen recording, automatically turn on Do Not Disturb for the duration of the recording.

So many times when I’m recording my screen, say, to have a video to send a developer with a bug report, the recording gets ruined by an incoming notification.

This toot has been favved more times than it's been boosted, and therefore I am ragequitting Mastodon and seeking refuge over on ... *checks notes* ... UGH FINE, I'LL STAY.

Also, I launched the first party Reddit app for the first time in maybe five years and was floored at just how bad it is compared not only to Apollo, but even the likes of these Lemmy apps that have been in development for such a short period of time. The ads didn’t help, but even those aside, it was an awful reading experience.

Reddit are saying they need to do more to improve accessibility. I’d argue they have much more to address than just that.

Been really impressed with the #Memmy app for #Lemmy over the past month or so. Made me fully appreciate how much of my Reddit browsing was based on the #Apollo app experience. Memmy does a great job of doing a similar thing for Lemmy, and is seeing almost daily updates. iOS users frustrated with Reddit should check it out https://apps.apple.com/au/app/memmy-for-lemmy/id6450204299

Also, give #Voyager (formally #WefWef) a look as an alternative. Most impressive PWA I’ve ever seen. http://vger.app

Took advantage of @torguard 70% lifetime discount for independence day (https://mastodon.social/@torguard@home.speakfree.social/110681117204568185) this weekend which runs now until the 15th.

I had to give a shout out to the team after I contacted support a few times and they never took more than 15 minutes to respond. Absolutely amazed at how responsive they have been across the weekend and this week. An amazing example of responsive support.

I recommend giving them a look, especially while this promo is running.

At the very least it’s nice to be able to communicate with my friends on the platform without having to be on it myself.

That said, if there is an actual threat to the network, then defederation could end up being the right play. I think it’s a bit early though to say if they needs to happen based on what we know, other than it’s Meta, and whether there’s be any significant issues if that was done at a later date if the situation does change.

Really interested to see how, or if, Threads impacts Mastodon. Encouraged that the Mastodon team are taking a measured approach to any federation discussion, and hope that other ActivityPub apps do.

No doubt anything with Facebook has to be scrutinised closely, but I feel these networks need to be resilient to for-profit organisations or bad actors coming along too, and there is an opportunity that scale brings.

What to know about Threads

There’s been a lot of speculation around what Threads will be and what it means for Mastodon. We’ve put together some of the most common questions and our responses based on what was launched today.

Over 25 years since I first played it, I’ve finally managed to 100% Goldeneye. Never managed to beat Aztec on 00 Agent on the N64 hardware but just accomplished the feat with the Xbox release. Also managed to unlock all cheat codes of which 3 or 4 eluded me back in the day such as Facility, Train and Caverns. Absolutely stoked. The game holds up better than expected despite the ports flaws.
