RIP #jazz great #LouDonaldson. Saw him in the mid 2010's. He was still joking about "con-fusion-ist" jazz.

Here's hi-res #albumart for his "Blues Walk" (1958). Mastodon compresses large images. Click for an uncompressed 3886x3686 .jpg: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16N74fnh8mjMQpJ0mRRAXZywwUJJ2BCeT/view?usp=sharing

"Steal Your Face" was recorded at these shows, and was supposed to serve as the movie soundtrack. "Steal Your Money," Lester Bangs called it. Bear complained the band limited him to songs that hadn't been released live before. No excuse for not including a Weather Report Suite or 10-19-1974's Eyes of the World > China Doll.

Load all forty-four songs in a music player and the Soundtrack looks jumbled. Check the track listing for the discs. Each CD is it's own, individual trip. #GratefulDead

The 50th anniversary of the #GratefulDead's Farewell shows at Winterland just passed. Here's hi-res #albumart for "The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack."

R. Crumb did the cover art for the album. Being a former Haight-Ashbury acidhead who hated psychedelic rock isn't close to the weirdest thing about him. I've read he didn't want this job until the band offered rare blues records in trade.

Like Crumb's work even though lots is indefensible. He always struck me as someone exploring his bigotries and perversions. Trying to understand, not promote them. Pretty sure if I was a woman or POC, that distinction would count for jack shit.

29 years ago, “The Music Never Stopped: The Roots of the #GratefulDead,” came out. You'd expect a band to cover pop stars of their youth. Wild that they listened to scratchy, hissy 78s of backwoods bellowing, and heard something they wanted to copy.

The band released this one Sept. 25, 2001. The artwork must have been finished before Sept. 11th. Other media companies worked to scrub the World Trade Center from their IP. Seeing the twin towers in those paranoid, grieving days felt elegiac.

35 years ago today, the #GratefulDead played a hot one for Bob Weir's 42nd birthday. Set One's Let it Grow > Deal is a marauder. Note the three-peat Playin' in set two. Not as strong as the similar set 7 days before, but that's not saying much.

Am I the only one thinking Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro have had thirty-plus years to get therapy? #music #JanesAddiction

Jane's Addiction cancels rest of tour after Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro fight

The band "made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group" after fans saw singer Perry Farrell punch guitarist Dave Navarro on stage.

Current collector status: Happy to see they're releasing movies on #4KUHD which I'm not going to buy, but they're a lot like other movies I definitely would buy, meaning those other movies might be coming out on 4K UHD soon. #moviestodon #cinemastodon #Filmastodon https://www.criterion.com/films/29964-paper-moon
Paper Moon

Maverick director Peter Bogdanovich affectionately recreates the world of the 1930s Dust Bowl in this beloved, briskly entertaining chronicle of one of cinema’s unlikeliest crime sprees. Real-life father and daughter Ryan and Tatum O’Neal (who became the youngest-ever Oscar winner for her spark-plug performance) play off each other with almost musical agility as a Bible-hawking con man and the precocious, recently orphaned tomboy who falls into his care—and soon rivals her newfound father figure’s skill as a swindler. With period-perfect detail, glowing monochrome imagery by cinematographer László Kovács, and a memorable supporting cast (including the inimitable Madeline Kahn), Paper Moon is a witty, loving portrait of two natural-born hustlers on a road trip through Depression-era America.

The #B52s "Love Shack" has been stuck in my head for days. Brutal treatment, considering the song's thirty-five years old.
