@h_bueler Damn. I knew about EARN IT (though it's the US, so I'm not surprised) but not about India. Seems like all over the world, civil rights are being curtailed left and right. Really scary times we live in right now.

How can this still be going on?

No legal experts, no human rights defenders, not even child protection organisations were able to dissuade the EU from pursuing its plans for mass surveilance.

"Despite the advice, it is understood that 10 EU member states – Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Spain – back continuing with the regulation without amendment."

EU lawyers say plan to scan private messages for child abuse may be unlawful

Under proposed ‘chat controls’ regulation, any encrypted service provider could be forced to screen for ‘identifiers’

The Guardian

🇪🇺 EU: We want to enforce client-side scanning of all private mesages. Can't get any more Orwellian than that, right?

🇺🇲 US: Hold my beer.

@thelinuxEXP @iode Iodé looks really interesting. The team did a great job!

I like that you can buy phones in different price ranges and with iodéOS pre-installed from their shop. This makes it much easier to recommend to people who are not confident in flashing a ROM themselves.

I'm really happy with my GrapheneOS phone and likely won't switch anytime soon, but if I did, I think iodé would be next in line!

Messenger: Comparison of security- and data protection-relevant features of messengers

@d2ns It would actually be interesting to have a more elaborate graphic that shows off each messenger's approach and their pros and cons. Would be useful to show other users what all the fuss is about.
