‼️Insane: Meta's Director of AI Safety and Alignment gave OpenClaw bot full access to her computer and email.

She couldn't stop it from deleting her entire inbox.

She's supposed to guardrail Meta's AI and future AGI.

Belgian PM Bart De Wever admits: "We made dogmatic choices against nuclear energy, which was the stupidity of the century."

As for the "irreversibility" of this phaseout: in all cases it’s easier, cheaper and faster to refurb a partially dismantled unit than to build a new one from scratch.

Let no one tell you otherwise, as they're bullshitting you.

As we guessed, it seems that despite Google saying they were not making recordings of people's voices and mining them for advertisers, they were doing exactly that.

If it was a colleague caught wiretapping the workplace, we'd have them sacked and never speak to nor trust them again. In the case of Google, it's even more personal.

No Google service is free. We are the terrain they extract from. We always pay.

Google to pay $68 million over allegations its voice assistant eavesdropped on users

Class-action lawsuit alleged that Google's voice assistant illegally recorded and shared private conversations with advertisers.

@SnoopJ https://github.com/LibreTranslate/LibreTranslate

Was one I used for a lot of early Manga transcription, but used an OCR tool to scrap the text off images.

Its based off OpenNMT: https://opennmt.net/

@SnoopJ Having had to translate a lot of Manga - There is absolutely tools for doing the translation, JA to EN is just just a matter of availability that makes LLMs attractive

The reason LLMs are popular for this is they are chatbots, so they just fit.

But it was being done long before LLMs were a thing.

Most of them are just scraping the text and running it through a non-LLM translator service, the LLM just handles some of the nitty gritty work

@SnoopJ @brooke Yes but on device translation can be done without AI, has been done before via OCR and simple libraries.

Adobe is now processing all your PDFs in the cloud, by default. The setting to “Enable generative AI features in Acrobat” was on, and I didn’t know it until I opened a document and Adobe asked me if I wanted a document summary. It’s annoying to have to click “No,” so I opened settings to disable the prompt.

THE PROBLEM
I sign Non-Disclosure Agreements for many of my clients. Adobe is a potential leak of protected information. I don’t know what Adobe does with this information. I don’t know what they store, or for how long. I don’t know what country (or countries) the data is stored in. I don’t know what LLMs are trained with this data. And I don’t need to know. What I need to know is that they won’t use default opt-in as a legal excuse to wiretap my information.

I recommend that you check your Adobe settings on all devices, for all Adobe accounts.
