A little post about Beagle Bros, perhaps the most fun 1980s software company. https://unsung.aresluna.org/our-programs-are-fun-to-use/

A question for @delta , Have you got an external security audit? The cyber guys are asking me for something like that.

Hi @adbenitez one question about multi devices in DeltaChat. How the server manage the multi devices? It keeps the messages until every device receives it or if the device is not connected,.it losses the massage Thanks in advance.

Not sure how much reach I have, and I’m not much of a salesman, but I’ll give it a try. Thanks :)

I arrived in the #OpenZFS world just under three years ago with basically no reputation or profile. I was unbelievably fortunate to meet a couple of people early who were extremely generous with their time and willing to lean on their own networks to open doors for me. There’s no question in my mind that without that early support, I would not have had the success and the opportunities that I have had and continue to have.

One of those people, @dexter is now in need of our help. If you haven’t met him before, he’s the host & moderator of the Production User Calls[1], covering #OpenZFS, #bhyve and jails/zones. The amazing thing about these calls is that they attract users and developers from different operating system communities and ecosystem, bringing different perspectives and experiences to the table. Conversations in those calls have led to the extension the OpenZFS Dev Summit to a four-day Users+Developers Summit and improvements to the #Sylve virtualization platform[2].

He would not take credit for these things, but I firmly believe that his effort to create space for the right people to get together every week is critical to keeping these relatively small projects thriving. He’s a hype man and force multiplier. Effective community-owned open source requires people like this.

But of course, time is money, and due to Ongoing Events life is about to get a lot more expensive for a lot of people in the USA, and that’s naturally going to mean less time available for community work.

So if you’ve got some cash to spare, consider supporting @dexter. If you’re a company that uses #OpenZFS, #bhyve, #FreeBSD or even #Linux and you’re keen to see these things continue to improve and work well with each other, you may find that supporting someone who can help pull those communities together stretches your contribution further than you might have expected!

To my own handful of sponsors: my intent is to pass on some of what you’ve given me this year, but if this tickles you the right way I would be delighted if you moved your sponsorship over too.

This will be the last Production User Call I moderate unless: A. U.S. healthcare subsidies resume B. I find a cushy corporate or dot org job C. I find solid funding sources for this work I have a few beloved Patreon sponsors but my calls for sponsorship of CFT via BSD Fund have only resulted in a donation of $100 in Bitcoin. It has been an honor and a pleasure. Again, my work is either done here or just beginning, I just don't know which.

I recover my blog after a DNS problem.
Does anyone has experience with he.net?

- Why OpenBSD rocks

Copying files from the #Emacs file manager 'dired' is pretty nice. Open two windows, one with the source, the other with the target location, and you can move files around and refile lots of documents really fast.

But moving stuff to my NAS as an async file transfer often fails.

Rsync works, though, so make rsync work from dired:

Instead of async dired file copies, try rsync file copies with a bit of transient menu convenience.
