GAUTENG: Nine City Power security guards have been arrested for theft, vandalism and tempering with essential infrastructure. Two of them from City Power head office were caught with copper cables. Three suspects were nabbed at scrapyard, three more at JHB tunnels. #CableTheft
Reports of an earthquake in Johannesburg south, tremors felt in Soweto, Naturena, Roodepoort, Kibler Park, Turfontein, Southgate etc. Authorities yet to confirm the seismic magnitude of the quake. #Earthquake
NEWS: Burglary at Olifantsfontein clinic, Tembisa. Thieves made off with 7 Televisions, 7 monitors, 3 processors, 4 WiFi routers, 4 microwaves, a water bottle dispenser and 4 boxes of ARVs medication. No arrests.
JUST IN: A patient has died in a fire that broke out at the George Mukhari Hospital, in Pretoria. The woman (35) was admitted at the psychiatric unit and was kept in isolation as part of her treatment. Cause of the fire is unknown. Scores of patients evacuated, an official said.
NEWS: A group of thieves robbed the Home affairs offices in Thaba-Nchu, Free State and made off with two Plasma TVs worth R12 000, laptop, tablet, a cctv camera monitor, two car keys, speed point machine, mobile truck camera monitor and two photo booth cameras all worth R50 000.
THEFT: Zimbabwean national has been arrested for tempering with essential infrastructure at Matimba Power station in Lephalale. He was caught red-handed with copper cables worth R100K stolen from the coal ashes conveyer belt. SANDF deployment to the stations was extended recently
NEWS: Police have confiscated goods worth over R15 million in Johannesburg CBD. This brings the total amount of confiscated goods to R28 million this month in Jozi.
JUST IN: The UDM has accepted the invitation to join the ANC-led coalition known as Government of National Unity, however, the party says it is yet to sign an agreement. UDM has three seats in parliament. #GNU
JUST IN: IEC Commissioner Dr Nomsa Masuku (62) has been arrested for fraud involving R1.2 million during her tenure as head of Corporate Social Investment at Standard Bank. She was later released on R20000 bail, the Hawks said. As CSI boss, Masuku allegedly awarded bursaries and scholarships to friends and family by manipulating documents and without the approval of the Committe with some of the monies deposited directly into her personal bank account to the tune of R1.2 million. #IEC

JUST IN: The High Court in JHB has ordered the City of Joburg (City Power) to pay over R1 billion to Eskom for electricity debt.

Eskom says City owes around R3.4billion since October 2023. However, the City has challenged the bill saying it has been over-charged.
