The next financial crisis will be due to a Python quant model or Excel sheet that uses just a little too much ChatGPT to autocomplete the code.

If you want to picture the future, imagine a hand palming a human face -- forever.

With the news that Musk has apparently selected a woman to take over for him as Twitter’s CEO, I am reminded of the “glass cliff” phenomenon:

When/if Twitter ultimately goes under, remember that Musk created the conditions for it to do so.

Why women are often put in charge of failing companies

The glass cliff is a phenomenon in which women are more likely to be put into leadership roles under risky and precarious circumstances.

It’s kind of mind-blowing that we’re on the verge of stuffing LLMs into everything and normalizing _less_ accuracy from computers.

If the Internet of the 90s and early 00s was about listening to each other through cans, and finding connections:

"Facebook is like a can within the can that pipes in all the cans but makes decisions about which cans I want to hear and most of the cans are foreign spies anyway.

Twitter is like all the cans, all at once but also if Elon musk’s can had the thickest wire attached to it and I can’t turn it off and also the can is breaking."

Interesting #geoint tip from @henkvaness newsletter:

If there is only a part of the sign of an building in the picture and you know the city where it was made, ask #ChatGPT to find objects that have certain letters in the name.

#ai #chatgpt #bard #artificialintelligence Just a note about the article on the BBC and Sky News this morning. The one regarding AI being more intelligent than us.
I just asked ChatGPT what colour the sea is, but typed it upside down, and it answered very quickly in Spanish.
I thought it was round one to us, but the translation’s quite disturbing.
I’ll leave it to you to decipher, but I think it’s trying to be a smart ass…
You can imagine the disappointment of expecting the visual quality of film and being delivered the best that 80s video could muster. I’d react the same. #thethe #music #mattjohnson #thisistheday #musicvideo https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr3DuUttlmx/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
THE THE on Instagram: "Some may wonder why we never posted the video for this song on THE THE's Official YouTube channel. A few words from Matt to explain: “For many years I insisted this video be withdrawn and banned from circulation as I was so unhappy with it – the end result didn’t turn out at all like the director, Tony Dow, said it would. (Ironically, Tony, a lovely man, went on to make his name as the director of the British comedy sitcom Only Fools And Horses!). At the age of 21, I didn’t know the difference between film and video (on which this was shot). Because I was so disappointed with the video for ‘This Is The Day’, in future I insisted I would only shoot music videos on film. One of the next videos I made was with Tim Pope in NYC, shot on 35mm and probably my all-time favourite: ‘Out Of The Blue (into the fire)’. Videos like that are the ones that truly reflected how I felt and what my music was trying to express. But, as the years have advanced, my feelings towards the video for ‘This Is The Day’ have softened somewhat and I can see the funny side of it – particularly my haircut and the way I’m self-consciously skulking around! More poignantly, all my immediate family are in it; only two of us are now left, so for that purpose alone it’s worth re-viewing.” Whether or not it is your favourite, there is no denying 'This Is The Day' has become the most widely-known and recognisable THE THE song and used in countless TV programmes, adverts and films, from art-house cinema to Hollywood blockbusters. And whether or not it is to your taste, there is no denying the success and ubiquity of the Marvel Universe films and franchise. And the two are now making their acquaintance! 'This Is The Day' is featured in the soundtrack of the new Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, released today 5 May worldwide. #GreatAlbums1990s - #Elastica – Elastica (1995). If you can excuse the Wire/ Stranglers ripoffs (for which royalties were indeed paid), Elastica’s debut is a smartly played set of pop tunes with enough rabblerousing spirit (“punk” as opposed to Punk) to give, say, the Bangles or Go-Go’s a run for their money. That’s a good thing, because you need a bit of levity sometimes, and “Connection” and “Stutter” are a lot more fun than Hole or L7.
