At 10, I went to a slaughterhouse. We asked drivers for 2 minutes: water, eye contact, a little love before the gates close and they never come back out.
Those pigs were babies. Never loved, never free, never safe. People call them “food”, even though they are someone.

On Saturday, with a team of volunteers and as part of Amnesty International’s annual “Write for Rights” campaign, I wrote letters to support people around the world whose human rights are not respected.
Here, I’m writing a letter to the family of Juan López in Honduras, an eco-activist who was murdered a year ago because he opposed mining projects that threatened local rivers and forests, as well as a national park. 💚
