Usually I'm aware of my surroundings when I'm doing a #PhotoWalk for stray cats to snap pictures of. The last thing I want to do is make someone uncomfortable. This time I sorta failed miserably. (Shot with my #CanonEOSR50 #Kalimar 80-200mm lens.)

I get nervous sometimes working at the #university. We're located in #Texas and this isn't the best state for being someone who is marginalized.

There's a #transgender student who likes to hangout on our floor. We're a welcoming bunch and we have display a #pride flag stated that all are welcomed in the #library. However, there have been a lot of detractors. They're not even a dime a dozen, but one is too many. Yeah, our flag and pride stuff have been in their bigoted cross hairs.

Anyway, the trans student left a doodle on the bulletin board outside the department. Just eggs. I thought it was cute so I made sure to pin it on there rather than replying on the sticky note glue. They have since added a second doodle. Today, however, 2 boys stood around the board snickering and one of the them posted something. Heart sank as I saw them laughing as they got on the elevator. With the political climate as it is, I feared the worst.

I went to see what was posted and I was pleasantly surprised. Huh. I guess the kids are gonna be alright, after all.
