Just saw the really sad news that @stevesilberman has died, and at a shockingly young age.
The news makes me really sad- and really angry, for the first time in a long time (I've mostly gotten over it), at Elon Musk.
Steve and I were the kind of "friends" that only existed on Twitter in the early 2010s. We never met, and he became super famous, but we definitely hung out in that early Twitter way. What a weird feeling.
After 18 years, I'm saying goodbye X on Sep 1. I can't in good conscience stay on Twitter as a for-profit, closed source platform when there are democratic alternatives to strengthen! I'm here and on bsky.
Happy for any advice on how to make the transition from those who have fully!
