Empowering Data Stewards to transform research! CaSDaR is a UKRI-funded Network+ dedicated to advancing careers, skills, and recognition for data-driven research.

FAIR is about open data and about traceability. And traceability starts with visible, consistent identifiers 🧩

For data stewards and managers, keeping identifiers visible, consistent, and persistent is the foundation that keeps FAIR data truly FAIR!

Even well-managed, FAIR data can fall apart when identifiers hide in the shadows πŸ”

Hidden identifiers occur when datasets, versions, or entities aren’t clearly labelled or linked through persistent, machine-readable IDs. For instance, if two data files describe the same sample but use slightly different names, or if dataset updates aren’t assigned a new DOI, users can’t tell which version to trust or cite.

The result? Broken connections, duplicate records, and lost reproducibility.

A year after their launch, CaSDaR invites you to their hybrid conference at The Midland Hotel/Online on the 17th-18th November 2026 πŸ‘‰ https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/casdars-hybrid-data-steward-conference-2026-tickets-1991195356914?aff=oddtdtcreator

We are accepting applications to present your work as either a lightning talk or a poster. Form available on the website.

The PSDI Organic Toolkit is a suite of web apps to support organic chemistry researchers in transparent and high-quality data-reporting. We provide services for visualisation of reaction scope and the variability of numeric reaction outcomes: https://organic-toolkit.psdi.ac.uk/

The variability plot generator enables you to produce plots that describe the reproducibility of any numerical reaction outcome: https://organic-toolkit.psdi.ac.uk/variability-plot

This presentation by Deborah Thorpe is entitled 'What makes a good data steward?: Beyond Data Management Skills...'. These are the slides from a 45 minute presentation about how we train data professionals in the 'transversal' or 'soft' skills that they need t oconduct their tasks and responsibilities effectively. Pride is not only a celebration of identity, but also a reminder of the importance of kindness, visibility, and inclusion in our communities and workplaces.

To everyone celebrating this month: we see you, we support you, and we are proud to stand alongside you. πŸ™Œ

Happy Pride Month 🌈

Gender and LGBTQUIA+ Data Collection Best Practice

A very happy pride month from team CaSDaR! πŸ™Œ

This Pride Month, we celebrate the LGBTQUIA+ community and recognise the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels respected, valued, and safe to be themselves.

At CaSDaR Network+, we believe that research, collaboration, and innovation are strongest when people from all backgrounds and identities are welcomed and heard.
