@Bluewall@infosec.exchange I really enjoy all three, yet I had to realize that purity is also a sin. Would I appreciate a messaging device that is also decentralized? Absolutely? Do I have an eye on things like DeltaChat? Totally! But messaging services feel uniquely difficult, as the people you want to message need to be on it. As Meredith Whittaker said, Signal got created at the right time and did the right things to gain traction and you couldn’t build the same thing again today. And Signal gets so many things right in terms of cryptography, priority, governance, that I will happily use it and I‘m glad it exists as an easy option which I can also easily recommend and give to non-techy people.
