This has been my experience searching for Linux videos on YouTube for the last few months:

At the top of the search, you'll see the Clickbait Tier:

You won't believe what Linus Torvalds told this one guy! So crazy!
You're using Arch wrong!
I left Windows for Linux and it was not what you might think!
I ran rm -rf / and now I am rich!
This is what your distro says about you!
I made my Linux distro look like Windows!

I skip 99% of that.

Then, the Outrage-Bait Tier. This is the usual "anti-woke" hate speech from folks like Lunduke ("Debian Doesn't Want Straight White Men") cluttering the results.

And finally the "Why I Stay Tier" sprinkled in to make me continue wanting to watch because they are amazing:

Andrea Borman

The Linux Experiment

@distrotube

@ActionRetro

@vkc

The rest is just LLM-generated garbage. YouTube is getting worse, and I’m just thankful we still have creators like Andrea, DT, Sean, and Veronica keeping the community sane.

This is why I'm spending more time on PeerTube lately. I have found many of my favorites on PeerTube and that list is growing. For instance, here are a couple:

The Linux Experiment: @thelinuxexperiment_channel
Veronica Explains: @veronicaexplains

EDIT: btw, i did manage to secure a ticket.

i was finally motivated to finish my invidious guide!

https://fedfree.org/docs/http/arch-invidious.html

this tells you how to set up Invidious on Arch Linux, compiling everything from source.

Invidious is a youtube frontend, that removes all the garbage from YouTube. users of your instance can then watch youtube without ads, and it can support all kinds of customisations.

depending on how you use it, it can also result in better privacy when using youtube.

i set up my own private instance, which i'm happily using.

You know, normal people re-decorate their house. I re-theme LXDE.

Yes LXDE, because people boldly and arrogantly say it's obsolete; LXQt sucks, it uses more memory and it's not exactly what I'm already using and I'm the most conservative Linux user ever. I hate change.

Better the devil you know. Given how unusable Xorg will become in the next few years, I'd like to fork LXDE.

Make LXDE into LWDE, for Wayland. Make it functionally and visually identical to GTK2 LXDE but with nicer DPI scaling.

i use libreboot btw

Reached over 1.000 clears on #osuctb !!!
