Deep cleaning my workspace ahead of my open studio event this Saturday. Going through all of my tools, getting rid of things I never use, wondering how I ended up with five yard sticks over the years, etc. So much dust, so many random little cups and bags with clay samples and experimental mixtures. It will feel really great starting the new year with a clean studio!
Today we honor the olive tree, a symbol of peace, resilience, and quiet strength.
Sacred to the Mediterranean, it withstands fire, wind, and time. Always patient. Always reborn. Always waiting for its kairos.
Cultivated for over 6,000 years, the olive tree was domesticated and spread across the Mediterranean.
One of its oldest living guardians still stands in Crete: the Olive Tree of Vouves, estimated at 2,000–3,000 years old.

Now this. This is #solarpunk.

A true community-owned gardening project. So many stadiums and sports institutes are just left to rot once they're no longer profitable, instead of being reused for the greater good. Remember, repurposing is always easier than recycling.

As a potter, I’m pretty blown away by the creative potential of growing my own cotton. This is a Florida native cotton that is quite different from what was grown on a commercial industrial scale. It has shorter fibers and the seeds are a bit more difficult to extract. Still, it’s strange to know that the cotton balls you can buy in a bag aren’t far off from what comes directly from the plant. I think I’d like to experiment with yarn or paper making. #gardening #crafts #art @gardening
@JeniParsons Bright orange roasted squash soup has also been on the menu here in southern Minnesota. This lovely is a potimarron from Seed Savers of Iowa seed. #growyourown, #minnesota
