As an almost 70 year old man, I have some advice for young men.

Please boost this if you think it will help

1. Your voice doesn't NEED to be heard. In fact, realizing that you don’t HAVE to have an opinion on everything and voice opinions or ideas in meetings or social gatherings, is amazingly liberating. You can actually just shut up, and relieve yourself of all that effort and stress. Let Bob utter his embarrassingly dumb idea, let Shirley have a say. You can just let it be for the most part

I usually think of myself as being able to navigate any website with a screen reader. But, I cannot seem to figure out GitHub. I’m trying to download the TGSpeechBox add-on for NVDA, how would I go about doing this? Does anybody have a direct download link?

Finally releasing this today and releasing myself from dealing with time zone logic for a while. 😃

Please Don't Rain (@[email protected])

Attached: 2 images A big release of Please Don't Rain is rolling out today! There’s now a location queue. The app tracks the weather for a special day you have coming up. Have several special days coming up? Now you can enter them once and they’ll be tracked in order as each one expires. Moon events gets its own section also and there’s lots of accessibility and bug fixes as well.

This morning I woke up at 119. After a pump change and a CGM change at midnight. I went through 91 total units of insulin yesterday, this is a crap ton of insulin for me! I usually use between 34 and 36 units for the total day.
Today has been a sh*t day for blood sugars. Nothing seemed to work. My blood sugar tanked at about noon today. And now I’m fighting to bring my blood sugar back down. I’ve been well over 400 and my pump stops working at over 400. Now I’m finally below 300. So I guess slow and steady wins the race today. #T1D
Booming voice from the sky: "Prepare to receive the Word of God! Your revelation may be recorded for quality and training purposes."

Reminder for those who may not be aware that those "fancy/custom text" things using special unicode characters that bypass ASCII fonts to make your name look cool or fancy or whatever ruin accessibility, like hard.

They break screen readers hard, since most, if not all, don't know how to handle them properly and end up pronouncing something like "Special character S" or whatever. They're also significantly harder to read than a user's chosen font, or the default fonts on any reasonable operating system or website, especially for neurodivergent and in particular dyslexic people.

Please stop using them, and maybe nudge your friends to stop using them.

Boosts appreciated for awareness

The@Mastodon app on iOS has a few more bug issues from yesterday‘s report. The profile Tabb now no longer has a label to voiceover users. The post Tabb, no longer displays in a content in the profile, and all of the tabs inside the profile are listed as headings. They should have Tabb roles rather than headings. Voiceover users cannot select individuals for tagging. If we start typing a username, it auto fills it, and we are not able to see a list of users to select from.#blind #accessibility
The @Mastodon iOS app used to be so great with # VoiceOver | Now the timeline is a mess, and half the VO rotor actions don’t work. #Blind
