First person – Santu Saha

ABSTRACT. First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Biology Open, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Santu Saha is first author on β€˜ Bioengineering of a tumour-stroma 3D-tumouroid co-culture model of hypopharyngeal cancer’, published in BiO. Santu conducted the research described in this article while a Newton International Fellow of Academy of Medical Sciences (Research Associate) in Professor Nicola Curtin's lab at Newcastle University. He is now a Research Associate in the lab of Professor Christine Harrison at Leukaemia Research Cytogenetics Group at Newcastle University. He is a passionate early-career translational cancer researcher and my long-term research interest is in exploring gene – drug association based targeted cancer therapy through exploiting novel tools.

@BiologyOpen publishes #OpenAccess Meeting Reviews across a broad range of biological fields. Today we highlight a #StructuralBiology Workshop, in memory of #DorothyHodgkin, the 3rd woman to ever win the @nobelprize in Chemistry - she is most well-known for pioneering methods in X-ray crystallography, which is critical in determining the structures of many biological molecules to understand their function.
The Workshop was hosted by MRTC back in 2022, read here: https://bit.ly/44U43n1
Hands-on training in structural biology, a tool for sustainable development in Africa series 4

Summary: BioStruct-Africa has been building capacity in structural biology for Africa-based biologists and researchers.

We're excited to have launched the next phase of The Forest of Biologists: we have now added trees for our peer reviewers and the digital forest has grown substantially. Check it out at https://forest.biologists.com/landscape/
These trees represent ancient woodland being preserved and restored at Great Knott Wood, situated within the Lake District National Park.
Each tree represents a completed peer review!
