Except the audio settings. Did the first real conversation over element yesterday with a friend of mine.

We quickly noticed that we could hear each other tiping on the keyboard the mouse clicking or even people in the background.

The 2 options for noise suppression were active all the time we even tried to deactivate it just to find out it doesn't make any difference.

Using the #element desktop app on #Linux #CachyOS

I do like and appreciate the work that is put into all these clients don't get me wrong.

It's just a bit frustrating (especially now that I could easily convince others to switch over to one of these discord alternatives) to find out that everything seems to work fine sound in voice calls is clean, streaming your screen (til now) is permanent at a pretty good quality/resolution no fragments at all.
The messenger is damn solid!

I'm new to GitHub. I tried to get the information I wanted there but could not find it.

I know that there is a PR for voice chats in general for #cinnyapp which I really appreciate

#commetchat is fairly new and doesn't even have its 1.0 release yet.

But for a client that focuses on communication shouldn't it be a more relevant topic to get the voice call to be a more smooth experience since the messenger stuff is already in a pretty good state?

Hey there, (I hope this is the right place to ask)

So I'm currently testing different matrix clients like yours #element , #cinnyapp and #commetchat.

I know that all of these clients use the same matrix protocol and rely on the development of this protocol.

I had my first real session in a voice call via element and was missing some basic audio settings like a noise Gate.

Hey, so I'm currently checking out #Matrix / #Element as an alternative for #Discord.

Element seems to be a good alternative so far (only tested it a few hours)

There are 2 things that annoy me a tiny bit.

For example watching multiple streams at the same time. You have to switch between them with the arrow keys.

Secondly #CachyOS seems to block audio for one application if I have discord and element open.

Maybe Cachy-users can help me with that one thanks in advance๐Ÿ˜น

I'm sorry
I forgot to mention the ram ๐Ÿ˜น and couldn't add it to the previous post cause of the 500 letter restriction.

RAM: Ares gen 2 32gb 6000mhz cl26 dual channel

for the gamers - to this day i only had one problem and that was driver based quick update fixed it.

(Spacemarine 2 had some weird fps drops on a specific map down to 3-5)

on another note raytracing seems to be a bit of a problem for some games

but i cant tell if its because of the system or the game itself.

warthunder for example works exactly the same like it does on win11 on max rtx settings about 100 fps

System im Running on is:

Ryzen 9 7950X3D
RX 9070XT
B650 Eagle
512GB OS
1TB Games

Im currently in the process of cuting ties to big tech (mainly us based)๐Ÿ˜ธ

switched from:

Win11 -> CachyOS with KDE - works like a charm

Google -> Proton ecosystem

Twitter(X)/Reddit -> Mastodon

Google maps -> Here WeGo - super easy to use

Chrome -> Vivaldi - (pretty happy with that)

Gemini -> Le Chat - feels pretty solid

Youtube Music -> Qobuz

only thing im worried about is Youtube itself cause i cant find a good alternative๐Ÿ˜ฟ
