Couple of notes, #DailyMail

1. Obviously the story's overblown scaremongering, used here purely as a stick to beat the gov with;

2. IDK the details, but it sounds very much like the standard NHS protocol for anonymised mass data, it's not "Let's look up Jonathan Harmsworth's doctors notes, so as to embarrass, understand & predict, blackmail or manipulate him". And

3. I don't recall the Mail making a fuss when Trump's buddy Peter #Thiel's spooky firm #Palantir got access to _unanonymised_ NHS records...

Oh Wikipedia, never change... Four tabs back I was poking around at the topic of #ASD. "Eight hours of fascinated clicking later", as the #xkcd strip says, I'm here. (I know nothing about biology, and less than that about molecular biology and genetics and such. Will any of this stuff I'm reading stick? Tune in next week, etc etc. But spoiler: very unlikely.)

I love it when the world catches up with me XD (OK, in this case it's the UK rather than the world.)

Surely the way to stop kids looking at things that aren't appropriate for children on the internet isn't to take those things off the internet - pretty much a decade-long gov policy under both parties, though the new laws only just came into effect. It's to stop kids having unsupervised access to the open internet. Surely the only sane solution is clear... prosecute parents who give their kids smartphones. "Nail 'em up, I say! Nail some sense into 'em!!1!"

I was so certain a "Trump slump" would kick off early some time in 2017 or 2018, and that the phrase would be irresistible, that for a brief period I toyed with the idea of registering related domains and doing something with them. Or selling to some content megacorp for a few mil, whichever, not fussy.

And now here we are. (I haven't watched / listened to this, its just the YT algo shoving stuff at me.) Sometimes I'd prefer to be wrong rather than right, but at the wrong time.

The most interesting bit about Zelensky's "Please don't go there about approval rarings, Mr President WhoIGreatlyRespect" statement, the one that got Trump to go completely Gerritty and call him a dictator, seems to me to be the bit just before the clip that's on the news. The bit where he's alluding to Trump blatantly spouting Russian #disinformation .

Excellent words, and clearly a lot of planning and diplomacy went into making sure this was ready to go as soon as the Trump regime started signalling an imminent betrayal of Ukraine. Now let's see what they - we - can back the words in with. Pedal to the metal for the DIB, at least.

Oh, you absolute fools. /o\

Just imagine what Malcolm would say...

Great news. Ta-ta Elon, enjoy your stay in Frankland!
I stopped posting or interacting with Twitter when Musk took it over, but I kept skimming notifications and reading some of the more entertaining or interesting people still hanging on. My wet liberal "yeah, but" shillyshallying was finally overwhelmed by the scale of his evil and I deleted the app. (I don't use that word lightly, indeed I very rarely use it at all.) He's one of a select group of people who, IMHO, would make the world a better place if he was no longer on it. Roll on the day when karma finally catches up and his whole empire goes down in flames... likely when a nutter burns down one of his houses, and the firefighters find what has been described as...
Jesus, @libreoffice , this is unbelievably crap. What the actual? IDK if this is a howling great bug that should never have made it past unit testing, or an interface design that would have made Bill Gates blush in 1985, but either way it's a gigantic fail.
