Professor of Soft Matter & Biophysics. Membranes, vesicles, medical applications, artificial cells. Interdisciplinary science education. Art-science interface.

The final paper from excellent former PhD student Rashmi is now online in Small.

Combining SAXS and advanced EM imaging methods, Rashmi investigates the high resolution membrane structure of hybrid lipid-polymer vesicles, with some interesting new discoveries!

Two coexisting membrane thicknesses in well mixed lipid-polymer vesicles indicate bistability in the energy landscape where membranes of intermediate thickness are not energetically favourable.

At the Royal Society in London for a two day meeting on cell mimicry. A fantastic line up of speakers. https://royalsociety.org/science-events-and-lectures/2022/11/cell-mimicry/

It seems ironic that Elon Musk is a Fellow of the Royal Society but Science Twitter has sought to rapidly relocate their community as soon as he bought the company!

Yes, that's right, Elon Musk is an FRS?!
