Today I received my author copies of Somewhere Between Heart and Hands, a collection of my poetry. Definitely feels surreal to see work of mine in print.

Finally got the burn barrel out today (two dry days in a row for the first time since 1998 it seems).

Then back to the #Allotment to weed this section, home to some brave strawberry plants.

Slow going, but I'm gradually getting the beds clear...

Trip to Bootsies Nursery on the A1 near Biggleswade today with my son. Great family-run local business, and came away with all this! Turns out it's not just me that gets excited by a nursery!

On the way home, stopped by a landscaper who has these amazing dinosaur sculptures out by the road. Used to see them on my commute, and knew I had to take my dinosaur-obsessed son!

So I ordered sterile Comfrey root cuttings, and eventually (from China it seems) this package arrived. Not only did it contains unlabelled seeds, the packet said it was a necklace...

So I now have a refund for the missing cuttings, and a mystery to solve.

I will sow the seeds this month, anyone want to have a guess what they are???

A new blog, the first I've written since October, and perhaps the rawest. I'm reluctant even to post it on Facebook, as it's sure to bring about a lot of sympathetic responses from people who don't realise they're who I'm talking about...

A Little Too Quiet

Both my blog and my Facebook have been quiet of late. “Too quiet” as they might say in the movies. If only the world at large had the same Spidey-senses of movie characters, and could l…

I have a thornless blackberry, a couple of self-seeded brambles that may or may not be any good, and two loganberry plants at the #Allotment. I'll need to trail them up something, but I don't have anything existing to do this, and limited DIY skills. What is the simplest and most cost effective way to support them as they grow?

I was thinking tall fence posts and strong string or wire, like for cordoning trees maybe?

Any advice welcome.

Get 'em started early, I say. She may need some work on her technique, but pretty handy for a 1-year-old.

That, and she's the cutest...
