My country has been good to me and has taken care of me with my disabilities. I had several minor surgeries throughout my career for various injuries all over my body. As a result, I have a lot of pain issues. "

"I’ve never considered myself to be disabled. I wasn’t disabled at all for my adult working life but after thirty-five years of military service in the name of my country, I have accumulated my share of wear and tear, or battle scars as I prefer to call them.

"On March 27, 2024, I was trundled into an operating theatre for what I hope will be my last bowel surgery. I had, literally, a pain in the arse. So, the NHS kindly removed what was left of my rectum. I realised the operation was more serious than I’d thought when the surgeon said there were 22 people in attendance.

when I ask what's wrong, the answer always seems to be "you're not trying hard enough to be a neurotypical person." Which starts another fight, and the whole cycle begins again. What I wouldn't give to be able to file for a divorce."

We're basically an unhappily married couple. We argue over something utterly pointless, then ignore each other for long periods, before I make an effort to reengage and rekindle our relationship, which ends up not working out because
