@MissConstrue TikTok gets a lot of condescension from people who donāt use it, but my last few days on it my entire fyp was people telling stories of how it helped them start their business, get discovered by employers, educate themselves based on content from independent experts, gain the awareness and confidence to escape abusive relationships, etc etc
Also if it was such a National security risk, then why was like 50% of Washington on it? Rightā¦
The US media on the whole carried water for Israel as its genocide developed in late 2023. Facebook owner Meta, meanwhile, loyally helped to manufacture consent for the genocide.
Israel isnāt the only reason the US political establishment wants to counter TikTokās power. But its loss of control of the narrative amid Israelās genocide in Gaza was, without a doubt, a significant catalyst in pushing it to act.
